Finding the Right Hotel For Your Needs

My wife and I still talk about the Hotel we stayed in on a recent trip to italy when we reached the end of the trip and stayed in a five star hotel in rome the day before we flew back to canada at the end of our holidays a few years ago. The hotel itself was extremely comfortable and clean, but what we talk about frequently to friends and family was the breakfast buffet the hotel provided for guests daily. The buffet was unbelievable as everything was fresh and gourmet, from the fresh roasted coffee to the all you can drink fresh squeezed orange juice. The buffet had fresh cheeses, fresh cut fruit, sausages, bacon, ham, pancakes, and fresh baked breads for toast and jam which made it an unforgettable experience to top off an adventure filled holiday.

It just shows that it is not the room, but the other things that can make a trip more fun and comfortable for you. After we had experienced some luxury on our trip to italy my wife now really looks for better quality hotels with good food, clean spacious rooms, and many other amenities before we will book a room somewhere. She can spend an exhausting amount of time before booking a room which is fine for me since she does all the work and then shows me the options. On our summer holiday this year we stayed at a hotel which was only a year old, had an unbelievable modern lobby with cool Flat Panel TVs, a coffee shop in the lobby and a restaurant that my daughter kept wanting to go into the bathroom over and over again because it was so modern and upscale. There was a modern restaurant at the hotel as well with a really nice bar and the food was excellent. The hotel offered rates well below other hotels in the area because the hotel was new and had not established a reputation yet. Other hotels were as much as two hundred dollars a night more for the same thing.

Here are some quick tips to finding a great hotel room:

Check reviews on sites like TripAdvisor

Call and ask if there are rooms that have been recently renovated

Bring your own sheets and pillow cases

Run hot water through the drinking glasses for at least two minutes before drinking out of them

Is there a restaurant at the hotel or does the hotel provide a continental breakfast

Rooms with balconies have the illusion of more space and can be more comfortable

Look at photos of the rooms and carpeting online or on the hotel web site

Wear sandals or slippers on carpeted floors

Is there a heated pool and hot tub
