6 Actions Needed By All, To Beat This Pandemic!

When, we witness, more Americans, dying, every day, from this pandemic, than died, from the atrocities, of September 11, 2001, and, many people, still, seem, unwilling to commit, to the necessary degree of personal responsibility/ commitment, needed, for the greater good, our potential to achieve, some light – at – the – end – of – tunnel, regarding, potential progress, for this deadly virus, is severely, limited! Although, the United States, has, about 4.5% of the world population, we have experienced, about 20% of the cases, and 17% of the fatalities. There are, probably, many factors, which, contribute to this, but, no doubt, it means, our citizens, must pay keen attention, take this seriously, and use common sense, public health, behaviors, such as wearing a mask, social distancing, hand washing, etc. With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, 6 actions, we must commit to, and focus – on, to beat this pandemic, and return, to some – semblance – of – normal.

1. Wear a mask: Why do some, perceive their social responsibility of wearing a mask, as a political issue, instead of a public health, necessity? Although, no one enjoys, wearing a mask, and may be tired of doing so, it seems, according to the experts, about, 90 – 95% of the cases, would be avoided, if a much larger percentage of Americans, wore a mask! This shouldn’t have to become a law, but, should be, a common sense, voluntary, greater – good, action/ behavior!

2. Social distancing: Scientists inform us, this is an airborne virus, and, can travel, through, the air, for, at least, 6 feet, and, perhaps, even more! Because of this, we should voluntary, practice, consistently, social distancing/ spacing, as often, as possible, and, if impossible, proceed to wear a mask, for protection, at to, flatten – the – curve!

3. Avoid crowds: We’ve witnessed, crowds, especially, when there is little spacing, and many, won’t (or don’t) wear masks, have the potential to become, what is referred to, as, super – spreader events! Doesn’t it, make sense, to avoid, being in a crowd?

4. Be vigilant: Don’t become a victim of Pandemic Fatigue, because, simply, being tired, of it, doesn’t make things, better! We must remain vigilant, and, careful, to ensure, better health, and fewer cases, into the future!

5. Get vaccinated: As the vaccines, become available, unless, you are one of the few, who can’t take a vaccination, for specific, health – related, reasons, take the shot! If, about 70% of the public, do so, we have the potential to reach, what is referred to, as, Herd Immunity, and, hopefully, become, a factor, in beating this deadly pandemic!

6. Common good/ Public health/ Patience: Stop being selfish, or impatient! Only, when most of us put the common good, instead of any personal, perceived, self – interest, and follow the advice of public health professionals, and experts, will we begin the journey back, to some degree, of a normal life!

Let’s all work together, use some common sense, and beat this pandemic! Are you willing to be a part of the solution, instead of the problem?
